Anne Arundel County High Schoolers Learning Math & Science Through Sailing PDF Print

Having participated in classroom Problem Based Learning Math & Science of Sailing programs this Spring, 134 Anne Arundel County Public School Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) 9th & 10th graders came to the National Sailing Center & Hall of Fame for a field trip on June 1, 2 and 3.

The students spent time at the U.S. Naval Academy Towing Tank and sailing on the Chesapeake Bay.

When Annapolis Mayor Josh Cohen, visiting during one of the days, asked students what they had learned, one student responded by saying “self-confidence”.

There are now 44 organizations in the Learning Math & Science through Sailing National Consortium organized by the National Sailing Center & Hall of Fame. The Consortium has been established to share curriculum ideas and best practices. For more information contact Susan Nahmias.
