HALL OF FAME INDUCTION

  • Public nominations were open from February 1 to April 1.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award and Class of 2014
  • 2014 Induction to be held at Bayview Yacht Club and Detroit Yacht Club, September 27-28.

EDUCATION

  • Discussions and plans are underway to institute the Learning Math & Science through Sailing program in 10 high schools across the country.
  • 105 organizations are part of the Learning Math & Science through Sailing National Consortium. A bi-monthly newsletter of best practices and resources is distributed.
  • National Workshop scheduled for October 10 at United States Naval Academy.
  • 187 9th & 10th grade Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) students participated in seven-week in school NSHOF Project Based Learning Module sessions.
  • 117 9th & 10th grade AACPS STEM students participated in field trips to the NSHOF including a tour of United States Naval Academy Hydrolab and Crown Sailing Center.
  • Fourth Annual Marine and Maritime Career Fair for students, grades 7-12 held at Annapolis High School. Co-sponsored by Anne Arundel County Public Schools and Eastport Yacht Club Foundation.
  • An Educator Digikit, "The Physics, Engineering and Technology of Sailing," is under development.

  • Bull and Bear have hosted 110 people for sailing.
  • Bull and Bear participated in the Elf Classic Regatta.

Founding Member Yacht Clubs

  • Chesapeake Bay Bermuda 40 Rendezvous in May.
  • Alberg 30 50th Anniversary Rendezvous planned for August.
  • Union League Yacht Squadron rendezvous planned for September.
  • New York Yacht Club cruise in October.

Pride of Baltimore II

  • 4,500 people visited the Pride of Baltimore II at NSHOF during the Annapolis City Fair.

Wounded Warrior Sailing Squadron

  • Spring Regatta co-sponsored with United Sates Naval Academy and CRAB held on April 25.
  • Fall Regatta co-sponsored with United Sates Naval Academy and CRAB to be held on September 13.

Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous and Race

  • Fifth Annual Classic Wooden Boat Rendezvous & Race to be held September 20-21
    in cooperation with Chesapeake Traditional Sailing Association

Tom Morris Library

  • There are now 2,500 items in the collection.

Environmental Stewardship

  • In cooperation with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, distribution at the Sailing Center of information regarding Saving the Bay.

Other

  • Co-sponsored the Third Annual City Fair at Annapolis City Dock with the City of Annapolis.
  • Hosted 2014 Leukemia Cup Kickoff Reception.
  • Sponsored Summer Sailstice selfie promotion.
  • Celestial Navigation course scheduled in November.

  • A growing online collection of sailing films and videos between four minutes and two hours.

  • Sailors and Stories: U.S. Olympic Sailing Medalists, U.S. Paralympic Medalists, Rolex Yachtsman of the Year and Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year Recipients, and Nathianael G. Herreshoff Trophy Winners (US Sailing Lists)
